About our Surf Lessons
We are proud to work with all levels from complete beginners, through intermediate to advanced and professionals. It doesn’t matter if it’s your first time on a surfboard or you are ready to compete. Our group classes have one instructor for every two students. When you get to Surf Travel & Friends, we will give you a technical brief, depending on your skill level, going through the techniques you’ll need to know when we hit the waves. This helps ensure you’ll have a great time and a safe experience with Puerto Escondido’s waves.
The technical aspects we'll teach according to your skill level are:
- Paddling and paddle strength
- Positioning in the ocean to catch the best part of the wave
- Turning left and right
- Trimming the board for longer rides
- Reading the ocean for wave awareness
- Speed and manoeuvrability
- Technical advanced moves, like bottom and top turn
Our levels are:
- Beginners: I’ve never surfed before.
- Medium: I’ve surfed before, but I’m not very confident.
- Avanced: I’ve surfed and I know what I’m doing, but I want to get better and improve my technique.
- Private Class: Available for all levels, what you get is the option to learn faster and learn more techniques.
What if I'm a professional and experienced surfer?
Our Head coach Celestino and Senior Coach Arturo are in charge of our advanced students. Our surf instructors know that each beach is different, knowing how to show you the ropes and share details about specific traits of our waves and beaches in Oaxaca as part of the Pacific Ocean. That will help you improve, while enjoying Puerto Escondido’s waves at their fullest.
